Enlightenment entails transcending beyond one's ego, but it should not be confused with the death of the ego. The ego is an inherent aspect of one's personality that cannot be eliminated; however, one always has a choice when encountering it.

Enlightenment involves being mindful and making conscious decisions that benefit both oneself and the world around them. It requires making the ego subservient to the soul.
